MIDDLE ALABAMA AREA AGENCY on AGING (M4A) - in coordination with the Alabama Department of Senior Services (ADSS), provides services to seniors 60+, including: coordination of transportation and nutrition to six local Senior Centers, home delivered meals and referral information concerning resources for older persons, based on the mission of the Older Americans Act. Other temporary services include homemaker services, caregiver respite, medication assistance and telephone reassurance programs. M4A also provides information and assistance, outreach and education, legal services, insurance counseling, and a nursing home/assisted living Ombudsmen Program. Please contact M4A at (205) 670-5770.
Shelby County RSVP - provides senior volunteers 55+ for a variety of worthwhile and stimulating volunteer opportunities throughout the community. Volunteer recognition programs reward approximately 500 deserving senior volunteers annually at a Spring Banquet and Christmas party, as a thank you for many hours of volunteer work, which Shelby County could not do without.
